Village Development

Income inequalities exacerbate poverty levels, especially in remote villages with limited resources. An important concern for fighting poverty is to ensure that resources reach the poorest and marginal groups living in the rural areas.

UCF partners with Karudeo Rural Development Organization, a local Uganda NGO to provide social and educational programs to assist the families living in these areas.

These programs focus on:

  • Reaching the poor and vulnerable with free programs available to all
  • Adult training programs on better farming and animal care
  • Marketing programs to increase income generating projects
  • Training in various local cottage industries to improve income levels
  • Village seminars on health issues such as HIV/AIDS prevention
  • Development of clean water sources and better sanitation
  • Programs for the empowerment of women

Karudeo solicits experts from various government agencies, both local and international, from major universities and other experts in various fields to conduct these training programs.

In addition to the large village seminars, continuing weekly adult educational programs are given on many different topics and issues. Attendance at these programs can be from several hundred in a village gathering to 12 or 15 at the small more intense one on one programs.

Thousands of people have benefited from these programs realizing a better quality of life and providing educational opportunities for their children. UCF and Karudeo continues to expand these programs to serve as many as possible in additional areas of Uganda.

We have attached a short video telling more about some of these development programs.

Your generosity in supporting these educational programs is always appreciate by those we serve in Africa.
